Stephen K. Jones, Jr., Chief Executive Officer at Clear Lake Regional Medical Center announced today Matt Mathias will serve as Clear Lake Regional Medical Center’s Chief Operating Officer beginning October 25th.  Prior to his role with Clear Lake Regional, Matt served as Chief Operating Officer of LewisGale Hospital Montgomery, an HCA affiliated acute-care hospital located in Blacksburg, Virginia.

“Matt is a respected and dynamic leader with an expertise in implementing strategic healthcare initiatives,” says Stephen K. Jones, Jr. “He will be a strong asset as Clear Lake Regional Medical Center continues to deliver comprehensive, compassionate healthcare to Southeast Houston.”

During his time at LewisGale, Matt was instrumental in developing and opening three medical office buildings designed to support physician growth, and the opening of four timeshare clinic offices for the rotation of specialists into secondary service. In addition, Matt coordinated the Sodexo conversion for Food and Environmental Services and led the implementation of a new 1.5T MRI unit in the hospital.

In addition to his responsibilities with LewisGale, Matt served as a Board Member for the New River Valley Economic Development Alliance.  Prior community involvement included serving on the Alleghany Highlands YMCA Board of Directors and being an active member of Alleghany Highlands Kiwanis Club. Matt is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives. 

Matt graduated Magna Cum Laude from James Madison University with a Bachelor of Science in Health Services Administration, and has a Masters of Health Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University. He is a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
